After graduation, Sarah and her friends decided they wanted to take a backpacking trip through Europe over the summer. They book their plane tickets and set off on the adventure of a lifetime. To keep in touch with her parents she decides to send them emails and postcards, so they follow along on her journey.

Hey, Mom and Dad!
We made it to Europe! There was a bit of turbulence during the flight, but it wasn’t terrible. Emily, Lindsey, and I are about to check into the Hostel. It is stunning here. We are staying the night in Lugano, Switzerland. Then we are taking a 5 a.m. train into Milan, Italy. I’ll start sending postcards soon! Love you both!
Much love, Sarah Davis
Watch out Italy, here comes Sarah!

Hi Sarah,
I am glad you made it to Switzerland. The dogs miss you loads! Some exciting news…your diploma came in the mail! We are incredibly proud of you. Mom has taken over your room. She is calling it her “meditation room”, she claims she’s “finding” herself. Whatever that means. I put the new grill together last night, and cooked steaks. You would have loved it. Keep us posted on your journey kiddo.
Love, Dad

Hey Sweetheart,
We got your first postcard! I am so happy you are having fun in Italy. Sorry to hear about Emily’s sunglasses. Let me know if you need more money or anything. I hope you got the pictures of the dogs. We put them in little shirts, and brought them to the football game at the highschool for senior night. They got tons of attention! Send more pictures. We miss you!
Love, Mom & Dad

We will talk soon…

Hey Kiddo,
It’s unfortunate that we won’t hear from you in a while. Call us when you can. If you don’t get this till after you arrive in Naples. I hope you had a safe drive. I remember during my highschool class trip we stopped in Naples for a day before heading to Paris. I had the time of my life. Be safe don’t do dumb stuff like I did. We can’t wait till you come home in a couple of weeks. I love you!
Love, Dad

While Elizabeth is out of the house running errands she get a call from a random number.
(ringing)
Mom: “Hello? Who is this?”
Sarah: “Hey mom, its sarah. We finally have cell service again.”
Mom: “Hi sweetheart I’ve missed talking with you.”
Sarah: “I don’t have a lot of time mom, I just wanted to check in with you. I am going on a date with this cute boy I met.”
Mom: “Alright, well how is the trip?”
Sarah: “It’s been amazing! We celebrated Lindsey’s birthday yesterday.”
Mom: “Is that where you met the guy?”
Sarah: “Yea it is…I gotta go mom, I am late. I love you.”
Mom: “Bye, I love you.”
(phone call ended)

Elizabeth and Jon are in a panicked state. They start throwing clothes into suitcases and booking flights to Italy. Meanwhile Sarah is having brunch with her friends and her new fiance. Once Elizabeth and Jon make it to the airport in Italy they give Sarah a call.
(ringing)
Sarah: “Hello?”
Mom: “We are in italy”
Dad: “We are in a taxi coming to you soon.”
Sarah: “How did you get to Italy so fast?”
Dad: “Becuase we think you are making a mistake.”
Sarah: “Im not making a mistake, I love him. So will you soon too.”
Mom: “You aren’t being reasonable.”
Sarah: “Mom you got married at 20, you shouldn’t be talking. I’m 23!”
Dad: “Don’t talk to your mother like that. We will be there in 20 minutes.”
(phone call ends)
The taxi pulls up to the hotel where Sarah, Joey, Emily, and Lindsey are staying. They rush in, and ask the front desk where the restaurant is. He points them in the right direction. They gather their thoughts, and prepare to see Sarah.
“She looks a lot different,” says Elizabeth.
Jon agrees by nodding his head.
“Mom! Dad! You made it!” says Sarah.
“Honey we need to talk” mummers Jon.
“You can say what you are going to say in front of Joey, he is my finance.” Proudly says Sarah.
“Ok fine, we don’t think it’s a good idea for the two of you to get married this young. Says Elizabeth.
“Look I’m not asking for your approval, the one thing I ask is that you will be at my wedding next week.” Says Sarah.
The pairs go their separate ways. A week passes, and the wedding is getting closer and closer. Sarah has still not talked to her parents after the fight. Sarah is starting to think that maybe this isn’t a good idea, and that the approval of her family is really important.
Joey calms her down by saying, “We don’t have to get married tomorrow if you don’t want to.”
Sarah replies “No, let’s do it. I love you.”
It’s the day of the wedding. People are setting up the chairs. They start gathering at the church. Sarah looks around for her parents. They are nowhere to be seen. She starts getting anxious, so Emily steps in and helps her, and gives her a pep talk. It’s a few minutes before she has to walk down the aisle, when she hears a knock on the door. It’s Elizabeth and Jon. They came!
“We may not support this moment in your life, but we will always be there for you. This is not only a big day for you. It’s a big day for us kid. Our baby is getting married. Can I walk you down the aisle?” says Jon while shedding a tear.
Sarah starts to cry. Then the music starts playing. Everyone stands up and faces Sarah, as she starts to walk. At this moment she has never been happier. She is with the people she loves, surrounded by friends and family. She is home.
